Solar Pool Heating

All You Need to Know About Solar Pool Heaters!

A solar pool heater is available in various designs, with all types having a collector and storage tank feature. Most importantly, all solar pool heating systems use energy from the sun to heat water.
Solar pool heaters are categorized based on the type of collector and circulation system.

SOLAR POOL HEATING

Our products can be installed on a variety of roof types including: tile, shingle, flat roof areas and on ground mounted racks in cases where no workable roof area exists. However the real benefit is no cost of operation and a product life of up to 20 years or more, making this an excellent investment.

HI-TEC SOLAR POOL HEATERS

It’s simple… All you do is set the desired pool temperature and your Hi-Tec auto-controller does the rest. When your automatic controller senses there is adequate sunlight to heat your pool and that your pool is colder than you like, water is automatically diverted to your solar system. As the water flows up through the solar collectors, the
sun’s energy heats it. The solar heated water then flows back into your pool. This cycle continues until your pool reaches the desired temperature. You can also cool your pool during the warmer months by running your Hi-Tec system at night. Your Hi-Tec auto-controller can automatically switch to cooling your pool, maintaining the perfect temperature.

*NOTE: in warmer climates, with infrequent rain during the swimming season, your solar system may be controlled with a manual control valve.

Warranty & Reliability: Your Hi-Tec Solar heater has no moving parts that can wear out or break. That fact, combined with the product’s special raw material formula and superior bonded construction, means your Hi-Tec solar system will last for many years. Hi-Tec solar panels are protected with a Lifetime Limited Warranty. As long as you own your home, your pool heater is protected under warranty. That’s confidence in our product. That’s peace of mind for you.

NUVIS SOLAR POOL HEATERS

Because Nuvis Solar Pool Heating Systems use the Sun as their energy source rather than fossil fuels, they produce no pollution causing emissions. Doing your part to preserve nature’s beauty and conserving energy are good reasons to choose a Nuvis Solar Pool Heater, but did you know that Nuvis can also save you money? Traditional pool heat systems run on either natural gas or electricity. Most home-owners do not realize that 86% of our electricity comes from – you guessed it, fossil fuels! There is currently a decline in affordable, high quality oil, coal and natural gas. Couple that with steadily growing demands for them as an energy source, and one sees why the price is increasing on a global scale. Fossil fuels prove to be not only environmentally harmful, but expensive. Over time, your Nuvis system will pay for itself many times over when you consider the money you will save compared to the operational cost of gas or electrical powered heaters. No other type of pool heater can make that claim. Nuvis Solar Pool Heating Systems also install easily because they connect to your existing pool pump & filter.

When you purchase a Nuvis Solar System, you ensure that you and your family will enjoy swimming and relaxing by the pool for years to come. You also ensure the same luxurious lifestyle for future generations.

How Does Solar Pool Heating Work According To Their Collection Types?

Z

Solar Batch Collector

Solar water heaters with a solar Batch Collector are also referred to as Integrated Collector Storage Systems. The tanks contain an insulated box in which water is heated and stored. Water can be stored in the tanks for a long time in instances where the family doesn’t use much of the water.

The tap of the solar water heater has a tempering valve that helps to prevent it from scalding. It works by mixing with cold water to lower the temperature of the water before it’s sent to the tap. Batch collectors are not suitable for use with a closed-loop circulation system, and so they’re not to be used in cold climates.

Z

Solar Flat-Plate Collector

This solar hot water system comprises copper tubes shaped for flat absorber plates. The frequently used type is the one on which the tubes are parallel and fixed at both ends by two pipes. An insulated box helps hold the flat plate and is guarded with tempered glass. The flat plate collectors are constructed so that they’re able to contain about 40 gallons of water.
Z

Solar Evacuated Tube Collector

Of all the solar water heater collectors, the evacuated tube collector is the most productive type. This is possible because a metal tube holding the water is enclosed by another larger tube. The gap between them is devoid of matter. Hence, heat loss is minimal.

This solar water heater collector can work in very low temperatures, like -40°F. However, the evacuated tube collectors are expensive as they cost twice as much as the flat plate collectors.

Z

How Solar Hot Water Heaters Work According To Their Circulation Systems

Another classification of solar water heaters is according to their circulation systems. Solar hot water systems with a direct system pass water through solar collectors where it has been made hot by the sun. After the water has been heated by the sun, it is stored in a tank, transferred to another tank, or used like that. This type of solar hot water heater is best used in a climate where freezing rarely occurs.

Solar hot water heaters with active or forced circulation use electric pumps, valves, and collectors to transfer water from the collector to the tank where the water will be stored. This type of solar hot water heater is majorly found in the United States.

Solar Hot Water Heater Vs. Gas

A gas water heater is preferable for homes with gas lines that have been in operation for a long time. However, in cases where gas lines are not available, LPG gas tanks can also be used. Compared to the solar water heater, the gas water heater is more effective in cold weather and climate.
